History of Ganesha:

Pillaiyar or Vinayaka is the primary deity worshiped by most Hindu gods.Ganesha worship is found throughout India and Nepal. He is also known by many other names like Ganapati, Anaimukhan. The worship of Vinayaka as the ultimate deity is called Gāṇāpatiya (Samasukrit: गाणपत्य; IAST: gāṇapatya). This Kanadipatiya later merged with Saivism and Vaishnavism. Vaishnavisms call Ganesha "Tumpikai Alvar".

Other Names of Vinayaka:

Lord of moments. He is called Ganapati because he is the ruler of all Bhutaganas

Anai means elephant : He is called Anaimukhan because he does not have a face.

Although Gajam means elephant. He is called Gajamugan because he does not have the face of an elephant.

Ishvara who solves the problems (sufferings of those who stand on the path of Dharma) i.e. God who solves the problems of those who live on the path of virtue. It is believed that if one starts the activity by worshiping Pillaiyar one can successfully complete the activity with the desired result.
